ABOUT CAREER LEARNING CENTERS

About Career Learning Centers?

Career Learning Centers was founded over 10 years ago by a group of Nursing Educators who wanted to deliver a quality learning experience to healthcare professionals who choose non-traditional independent learning as their path to an Associate in Science in Nursing Degree which leads them to their RN Certification and advancement in their profession.

CLC developed an interactive online classroom environment structure that encourages learning, measures knowledge, and ensures a successful outcome to the learning process.

Much like a traditional campus based program, CLC breaks each course into smaller, easy to learn units. After each unit, there is a practice exam to measure knowledge acquired.

After knowledge acquisition is complete and measured, there is a thorough practice final exam which mirrors the official exam. Because it is a practice exam, you can take it as many times as you want . . . . by the way . . . .WE *GUARANTEE YOUR ACADEMIC SUCCESS !

Unlike a traditional campus based program, CLC allows a student to go at their own pace, and integrate learning into their present life experience, not expect them to restructure their life around a schools’ academic curriculum schedule.

With CLC, you can choose to work completely independent, or within a more structured virtual classroom environment or a combination of both – it’s your choice.

Across the United States, RN’s make between 30% to 50% more than LPN/LVN’s and 20% to 30% more than ParaMedics, Military Corpsman and Medics.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for RN’s will increase by 22% over the next ten years.

It just makes good since to get your RN if you intend to stay in the Nursing Profession.

Remember: You pay for your RN once –

Your RN pays you back for the rest of your working career.

The best investment you can make is in YOURSELF !

Why do I need Career Learning Centers?

Because our proven courses teach you what you need to pass the required standardized examination in order to earn the college credit required for an Associate in Nursing Degree.

Is Career Learning Centers accredited?

Career Learning Centers is not not a degree granting institution and therefore is not an accredited body.  Excelsior College is the degree granting institution and they are fully accredited (see below). Career Learning Centers is an educational service provider that specializes in helping students pass standardized examinations to earn college credit to be utilized toward an ASN degree from Excelsior College.

Who can participate in this program?

As this is a bridge program and traditional clinical rotations are not required, you must be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), or Paramedic. There are select others who, because of their vast clinical experience, can also participate in the program. These individuals include, but are not limited to, foreign physicians, certified nurse mid wives and military corpsmen.

The following states have special requirements as outlined by the Board of Nursing: Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Lousiana, Maryland, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Vermont, Virginia or Washington. Please contact your local State Board of Nursing or see the Excelsior College website (http://www.excelsior.edu/state-board-requirements) for more information.

How much does it cost?

The cost for this subscription based service is $99 per month.  This is a fraction of what a traditional nursing program costs!  Your overall cost will vary depending on how many subjects you will need to meet the curriculum requirements and how much time you have to devote to studying.  If you only need a couple of courses and you have a great deal of time to devote to studying, you may only need course materials and access for 1-2 months.  If you need the entire curriculum, you may need course materials and access for a much longer period of time resulting in a higher long-term cost, depending on the pace you choose to go at.

Is There a Success Guarantee?

Yes.  Once you have completed a course, if you fail an exam, send us your test score print out along with the workbook showing that you have completed all assignments and practice exams in a manner that reflects a good faith academic approach* and a desire to learn the material and we’ll give you subscription access free for 60 days!  We must have your results within 30 days from the day you tested for the course for the guarantee to apply.

Contact us at info@careerlearningcenters.com to determine the best way to send us your test score and workbook.  All workbooks will be returned.

CLC does not issue refunds outside of the product guarantee.  All Sales Final.

*A good faith academic approach includes the following, completion of all online activities, completion of each module exam with at least an 80% average score, completion of the cumulative final exam with at least an 85% average score and completion of the corresponding workbook in its entirety.

Each examination that you take and pass (‘C’ or above), will result in 3, 4 or 6 credit hours awarded toward meeting the curriculum requirements to graduate.

Are there clinical requirements for this program?

ASN candidates are admitted into the program based upon clinical experience.  Therefore, it is not a requirement to complete a clinical rotation.  However, in lieu of the traditional clinical rotation, all ASN candidates are required to successfully complete the weekend Clinical Performance in Nursing Examination.  Excelsior College administers the Clinical Performance in Nursing Examination at Regional Performance Assessment Centers (locations in GA, NY, OH, PA,TX & WI).

When will I receive access to the online classroom?

Within 24-48 hours.  Once you sign up for a course, you will receive an email from the E-Learning Team with your user name and password within 24-48 hours of ordering the course.

How do I sign up for my next course?

To sign up for your next course.  Please go to selfpaced.careerlearningcenters.com to sign in and choose your new course.

What are the Career Learning Centers study materials?

Career Learning Centers’ study materials include a workbook and quick reference guide for each course taken.  Select courses also come with flashcards to help memorize key terms.

CLC study materials feature:

  • A workbook/study guide created by subject matter experts with PhD or master’s degrees
  • Objectives and required readings at the beginning of each chapter
  • Page references so you can quickly and efficiently check your answers
  • End-of-chapter and final exams with page references and answer keys
  • Study and time management tips

The workbook contains questions on material found in the required textbook readings. Each question is followed by a page reference leading you to the exact spot in the textbook where you can find the answer. There are also end-of-chapter exams and a final exam – all with page references and answer keys.

When will I receive my study materials?

Once you sign up for a course, you will receive your study materials by US mail within 5-7 business days dependent upon where you live.  We also offer quicker mailing options for those looking to receive their materials faster.

Do I have to purchase textbooks?

Textbooks are strongly recommended.  To keep textbook costs low for our students, nursing courses are set up so that a textbook is used in multiple courses.  Additionally, you are not required to purchase your textbooks from us.  You can purchase or rent textbooks from any textbook vendor of your choosing.  There are several online book retailers that offer used textbooks very reasonably priced.

What textbooks do I need?

Once you place an order for your course, you will receive an email with a link to the bookstore.  The bookstore lists the textbooks required by class.  Additionally, required textbooks are listed in the front of your workbook.

Are the courses self-paced?

Yes.  You work at your own pace when it is convenient for you to do so.  You can progress through the program as slowly or as quickly as you wish.

Are sessions by semester or quarter?

Neither. At Career Learning Centers sessions are offered on an open basis. Because this is a self-paced format, you choose when you would like to study, where you would like to study and the subject you would like to study.  This means that sessions are waiting for you whenever you would like to take them. There is no need to wait several months to begin a new subject as you might at a local college or university.

How many subjects can I study at one time?

We advise that you start with one.  Focus on one subject at a time and prepare for that particular exam.  Once you pass the standardized exam for that subject, you are ready to move on to the next.  Please remember there is a lot of information to learn and retain in each course!  Students are most successful when they don’t overload themselves. Keep in mind, that this program is already accelerated even when you study one subject at a time.  Therefore, we will not allow more than two open courses at any given time.

What order should I take my classes?

We strongly recommend the following course order:

1.    Lifespan Developmental Psychology
2.    Sociology
3.    World Religions
4.    English Composition
5.    Microbiology
Enrollment required because 12 credits of Excelsior exams have been taken!
